Set in the dramatic landscape of Malin on the Inishowen Peninsula, Ballagh Studio is the working gallery and creative home of artists and printmakers Ros Harvey and Tim Stampton. Established in 1990, the studio combines fine art, traditional printmaking, and illustrated publishing in a unique rural arts setting in Ireland’s most northerly region.

The gallery functions as both a working showroom and exhibition space, showcasing Ros and Tim’s individual practices alongside their collaborative creative projects. Visitors can explore original paintings, limited edition prints, and hand-crafted illustrated books inspired by Irish mythology and landscape.

Ros Harvey, a Malin native and member of the Royal Ulster Academy and the Pastel Society of Ireland, is known for her powerful depictions of the Atlantic coastline. Working primarily in soft pastels, she also creates watercolours, oils, mono-prints, etchings, and linocuts. Her work has been widely exhibited and is held in both public and private collections internationally.

Tim Stampton, originally from Canada, is an accomplished wood engraver, etcher, and illustrator. He creates finely detailed limited edition books under the imprint “Apple and Wave,” inspired by Irish folklore and storytelling traditions. Together, Ros and Tim have developed Ballagh Studio into a fully functioning creative space featuring antique printing presses, working studios, and a welcoming gallery environment.

Visitors are welcome year-round, with opportunities to view the studio, explore artworks, and by appointment, experience live demonstrations of printmaking techniques.
