A Key figure in the field of photography in Estonia

Peeter Linnap, a key figure in establishing photography education in Estonia and leading its artistic revolution of the 1990s, is making a special tip to Artlink, Fort Dunree to give a talk on contemporary photography in Estonia.

Petter is Head of Department, Department of Photography at Pallas University of Applied Sciences, Tartu, Estonia. The department positions itself as an integral part of an international cultural community. Students actively participate in exchange programs and the department frequently admits international students.

A media theorist and photo artist, Peeter was born in1960, in Tallinn. He studied photography and communication theory at the Faculty of Culture of Tallinn Pedagogical University in Tallinn and in Tampere University, Finland.  He earned a master’s degree in art history from the Estonian Academy of Arts in 2001 and a Ph.D. in semiotics from the University of Tartu in 2006. He has curated over 20 international exhibitions and published more than 70 studies. Linnap is a key figure in establishing photography education in Estonia and leading its artistic revolution of the 1990s.
