The IOSAS Centre (Island of Saints and Scholars) is a unique spiritual and heritage attraction located in Muff, Inishowen, Co. Donegal. Set across six acres of natural bogland, this peaceful destination celebrates Ireland’s early Christian heritage while offering visitors a tranquil space for reflection, walking and relaxation.
The centre forms part of the work of the Columba Community of Prayer and Reconciliation, established in 1981, whose mission promotes healing, peace and understanding through spirituality, education and community outreach.
Visitors can explore the beautifully designed Celtic Prayer Garden, enjoy locally sourced food in the café, and browse gifts and organic produce inspired by nature and Irish traditions.

The Celtic Prayer Garden honours Ireland’s Golden Age of Saints (5th – 12th century) and includes symbolic features inspired by early Irish Christianity such as St Patrick’s Cross, St Brendan’s Boat and St Columba’s Island.
The garden is considered a “thin place” – a traditional Celtic expression describing a location where the distance between heaven and earth feels especially close. Visitors can walk peaceful pathways, reflect in quiet spaces, and enjoy the calming natural landscape.
A typical visit lasts between 1–1.5 hours, allowing time to explore the grounds and visitor centre.
