Water Activities Return to Fort Dunree with Kayaking, Snorkelling and Coasteering
Visitors to Fort Dunree can once again experience one of Inishowen’s most spectacular coastal locations from the water, with kayaking, snorkelling and coasteering now available from the historic fort’s pier.
The new partnership with Far and Wild brings a range of outdoor activities back to Fort Dunree, adding another dimension to one of Inishowen’s most popular visitor attractions along the Wild Atlantic Way.
Perched above Lough Swilly, Fort Dunree is already well known for its military museum, exhibitions, café and scenic walking trails. The addition of water-based experiences now offers visitors the opportunity to explore the area’s rugged coastline and marine environment from a completely different perspective.
Whether you’re looking for an active day out, a family adventure, or a unique way to experience Inishowen’s coastline, the activities provide something for a range of ages and interests. Operating from the pier at Fort Dunree, visitors can take to the water by kayak, discover the coastline while snorkelling, or enjoy the excitement of coasteering beneath the dramatic cliffs and headlands surrounding the fort.
The return of water activities also marks an exciting development for Fort Dunree and adds another experience to Inishowen’s growing outdoor and adventure offering. Combining history, heritage, nature and now marine activities, Fort Dunree continues to provide visitors with new ways to experience this remarkable corner of Donegal.
