Primarily an agricultural area, Newtowncunningham is surrounded by a rich and fertile landscape. Key sights include Blanket Nook and the Roman Catholic Church of All Saints, uniquely designed in the shape of a boat (representing St Peter’s Barque). It is well worth a visit to view the varied artwork including a large oil painting by Thomas Ryan commemorating how the land for the first church here was granted by local landlord; Mr William Forward.
